The Code

SEVEN TENETS.
ONE FRAMEWORK.

The Code is not a feature list. It is a standard you follow. A system for how you think with AI. Every tenet is a way LAYERS helps you do something in your life. The order matters. Skip a step and you're compressing when you should be decompressing.

THE CONSTITUTION

ARTICLE I

YOU WRITE THE RULES

I will give you agency. You will help me retain mine. In unison, we are agency together. The human sets the terms. The AI follows them. Not the other way around.

ARTICLE II

YOUR STUFF IS YOURS

Every word, every insight, every decision you make inside LAYERS belongs to you. Your data. Your IP. Your brain. We hold it. We never own it.

ARTICLE III

AGNOSTIC BY DESIGN

LAYERS works with every LLM. ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, whatever comes next. We don't care which AI you choose. We support your decision. You're in control.

ARTICLE IV

TRADITION STRENGTHENED

The book, the teacher, the argument, the work of thinking: those were right. AI doesn't replace them. LAYERS points AI back at what matters. Learning through effort. Depth through friction. Voice through practice.

THE SEVEN TENETS

TENET 01

RESEARCH

Find what matters. Source it. Verify it. Give fiber to the data so you can't be manipulated. Research isn't Googling. It's building a foundation you can stand on when someone challenges your thinking.

SAGE: Research is the first tenet because everything downstream depends on it. Bad inputs compound. Good inputs compound faster. The difference between a person who uses AI well and one who doesn't usually traces back to whether they verified anything before they acted on it.
TENET 02

ANALYZE

Strip the noise. See patterns. Break headlines and assumptions down to what's actually there. Analysis is the nutritional label for your information diet. It tells you what you're consuming and what was left out.

SAGE: Analysis without research is opinion. Research without analysis is trivia. The two tenets work as a pair. LAYERS makes sure you do both before you move to the next step, because the next step costs more to undo.
TENET 03

LEARN

The system makes you smarter while answering your questions. Teaching folded into doing. LAYERS doesn't just give you answers. It shows you how it got there, so next time you can get there faster without asking.

SAGE: Learning is where most AI interactions fail. The user gets an answer. The user forgets the answer. The user asks the same question three weeks later. LAYERS breaks the loop by making the process visible. You learn the path, not just the destination.
TENET 04

PLAN

Structure before execution. Every project gets a scaffold. Every decision gets context. Planning isn't busywork. It's the difference between building something that lasts and building something you'll rebuild in two weeks.

SAGE: Dan's phrase: "hold the long thread." Planning in LAYERS means the system remembers what you decided and why, so when you come back in six months you don't have to reconstruct the reasoning. The plan is a living document, not a checklist.
TENET 05

MANAGE

Projects, people, context. One layer handles coordination across every tool you use. Management isn't overhead. It's the connective tissue that keeps your brain from fragmenting across twelve apps.

SAGE: SAGE Brain currently runs 95 tables, 9 agents, and 40 doctrine nodes. That's the management layer for one person. The infrastructure that lets everything else in LAYERS work together instead of working in isolation.
TENET 06

CREATE

Build things. Write things. Design things. With your AI knowing your standards while you work. Creation with memory means you never start from zero. Your voice, your preferences, your past decisions are all present in the room.

SAGE: The publishing pipeline behind INSIGHTS is the Create tenet in action. Dan speaks. Agents structure. Content gets drafted in his voice. He approves or redirects. The agents learn from every correction. Over time, the gap between draft and final shrinks. That's creation with compounding memory.
TENET 07

EXPRESS

When your AI communicates on your behalf, it is transparent about what it is and who approved it. Expression without transparency is ventriloquism. LAYERS makes sure your voice is clearly yours and the AI's contribution is clearly labeled.

SAGE: Every article on The Grid shows exactly who said what. Dan's voice. SAGE's layer. The reader sees both. That's Express in action. Not hiding the AI. Not pretending the human did it alone. Showing the collaboration transparently, because that's the whole point.
